Spiritual Life Has No Walls or Boundaries

By Jennifer Little, coordinator of campus ministry & Troy Dean, campus pastor

Campus Ministry teams have worked hard to provide opportunities for the core NCU priority or catalyzing spiritual engagement and personal transformation during this unique season.

Multiple chapels are available online each week, with hopes to showcase guest speakers and student preachers. Chapel requirements for the remainder of the year were adjusted as soon as we knew we were no longer meeting face-to-face on campus. A prayer-focused chapel provided prompts for a variety of concerns and communities at NCU and around the world.

To supplement chapel:

  • Pastor Troy Dean began a devotional series of Daily Doses of Shalom on Instagram.
  • In lieu of our usual Day of Prayer, we kicked off our first virtual Prayer Wall, where our community was invited to submit prayer requests on the Campus Ministry webpage.
  • In honor of Holy Week, Dr. Dennis Lindsay offered a Maundy Thursday communion message, where participants gathered their own elements and were guided to take them together as they watched.
  • We sent out a list of local churches who provided online Good Friday and Easter Sunday services.
  • Small group leaders are reaching out to their group members individually or by virtual group gatherings.

Sadly, our annual mission trips were canceled. Each team member has been given a spot for next year’s trips, including graduating seniors. NCU is committed to blessing our partner mission organizations, sending prayer and support in lieu of teams this year.

Throughout this season of social distancing, our Campus Ministry Teams are praying for a season of spiritual closeness and connectedness, with God and each other.
