“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”
“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” 1 Corinthians 12:26 NIV
In the week we prepare to celebrate our most recent class of graduates, we are profoundly aware that we send them into a world of deep wounds and grave suffering. At this moment, we are heartbroken by the continual rejection of one of the first and most obvious truths in scripture: every life is sacred and imbued with worth as carriers of the image of God. We suffer in this moment, and too many moments before this one, involving Mr. George Floyd and others.
We as a community of diverse backgrounds, cultures and voices, stand with those who suffer injustice. We also know that every voice makes a difference. We add ours to the chorus calling for justice and goodness to prevail over evil, and for love to be present among us.
We are committed to an educational experience aimed toward more dignity and less suffering through a commitment to empower a generation characterized by wisdom and faith in service to all. Our prayers are lifted on behalf of those who suffer injustice and those charged with the safety of our communities.
