More Students Seeking Undergraduate Teacher Education Degrees at Bushnell University

EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell University’s School of Education welcomed a record 23 new education majors into its undergraduate Teacher Education program today, a new high for the rigorous and well-respected teacher licensure degree program in recent years. The School hosted a Welcome Day on Monday, April 28, for its newly-accepted Education Majors on its campus in Eugene.

The School of Education changed its application process this year to allow Freshman and Sophomore students who meet the education program’s criteria to apply for the entry into the major. Among other changes, the Bachelor of Science in Teacher Education now has a refreshed curriculum and field experiences that can be taken throughout the students’ four-year program.  Program Director Ray Ricks indicated that the changes would maintain the rigor and requirements of the program while offering students more choices in areas to specialize in and seek endorsements as well as more flexibility for their busy schedules.

“We are excited to see more students answering the call to become teachers,” said Ricks. “Our goal is to prepare future educators who are not only highly qualified but also equipped to make a meaningful difference and impact in the lives of their students and communities.”

The School of Education is a part of the College of Professional Studies and offers undergraduate and graduate education degrees.
