Music at Bushnell
Bushnell Jazz Ensemble prepares and performs music primarily originating from the Black American Music idiom. Students learn the stylistic performance of Afrodiasporic, Central American, South American, and other contemporary genres, as well as beginning improvisation methods.
Chamber Ensemble focuses on repertoire stylistic of the “Common Practice Era” and adjacent classical genre. Students learn stylistic interpretation as well as practical sight reading and active listening in a small classical ensemble setting.
University Choir is a 50-voice ensemble comprised of music majors and non-music majors alike. The choir sings many styles, including classical, modern, gospel, and worship, and is a place of joyful collaboration and spiritual community.
Bushnell Chorale is the select vocal ensemble at Bushnell, and represents the University at a high professional level both on- and off-campus. Media opportunities, schools, and churches both local and abroad are venues of engagement for this high-caliber group.
The Grove Collective is the primary musical worship leadership team, and it is highly active in Bushnell Chapel and traveling events, providing broad musical and technical opportunities.
