Assessment Tools
Assessments are valuable tools to assist in identifying strengths, interests, personality traits, values, and skills. They can offer insightful information that can be useful in the decision-making process.
The following assessments are available to enrolled students for free. (Alumni may request to take an assessment for a nominal fee of $15.) Please contact Career Development by phone at 541-684-7289 or email the Office of Career Development to take a test and schedule a consultation.
Available Options
Based in positive psychology, the Clifton Strengths assessment allows you to understand the unique perspective by which you approach life, including how you think, feel, and behave. The results help you explore questions like, “Who am I?” and “How do I best contribute to making a difference in the world?” This assessment is integrated into various courses throughout the undergraduate educational program, including First Year Seminars, calling and vocation courses, and internships.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assists you in understanding your preferences and personality and how it influences the way you think, communicate, and interact. The results may be applied in areas such as communication, team-building, leadership, and career management. Consultation required.
The Strong Interest Inventory assists you in matching your interests with opportunities for jobs, education, and leisure activities. Consultation required.
SkillScan provides you with a fast, interactive, and intuitive-based process for identifying transferable skills. This knowledge enables you to select appropriate career options, college majors, and training programs. SkillScan also features a system for integrating skill results with other traditional interests, values, and personality inventories to provide a holistic picture of your career themes. Consultation recommended.
O* Net Online – What’s My Next Move?
Provided by US Department of Labor, Employment & Training Administration, the O*Net Interest Profiler can help you identify interests and how they relate to the world of work based on what you like to do. It links directly to occupations to consider and explore.
Oregon Employment Department – Skill Explorer
Skill Explorer can help you identify occupations based on your unique set of skills. This tool may also be used to generate key phrases for how to describe your skills on resumes and in interviews.
