Wellman Named NAIA Field Athlete of the Week

NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week (March 12)

KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – Kaleo Wellman has been named the NAIA Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Just a week removed from claiming a runner-up finish at the NAIA Indoor National Championship, and earning All-American honors, Wellman landed a “B” qualifying mark for Outdoor, winning the Long Jump with a leap of 7.33 meters (24-00.75). He was the best collegiate finisher by nearly two-and-a-half feet, and posted the top mark this season in both the Cascade Conference and the NAIA.

Wellman becomes the second Bushnell student-athlete to garner an NAIA National Player of the Week honor this season, joining volleyball’s Hailey Heider. He is the first Beacon men’s track & field athlete to ever receive the award.

Wellman and the Beacons will compete close to home next Saturday, competing in the Titan Open at Lane Community College.
