What You’ll Study

How the Curriculum is Structured

The Online Teacher Education curriculum combines flexible online learning with hands-on classroom experience and professional licensure preparation. You’ll build a strong foundation in instructional methods, classroom management, student development, assessment practices, educational technology, and inclusive teaching strategies designed for today’s diverse PK–12 learning environments.

Coursework includes classes such as Child Development and Learning Theory, Classroom Relations and Management, Foundations of Education and Diversity, Connecting Curriculum and Assessment, Exceptional Learners and Inclusive Environments, and Faith Integration in Teaching Seminar.

Through supervised clinical practice, field placements, and student teaching experiences, you’ll gain real classroom experience while preparing for Oregon teacher licensure and long-term success as an educator.

Clinical Practice and Student Teaching

Clinical practice is a central component of Bushnell’s Online Teacher Education program. Rather than waiting until the end of your degree to enter a classroom, you’ll begin gaining hands-on experience early through supervised field placements that connect coursework with real-world teaching practice.

Students complete more than 1,000 hours of clinical practice and student teaching experience while working alongside certified educators in elementary and secondary school settings. These experiences help you develop instructional confidence, strengthen classroom management skills, support diverse learners, and apply research-based teaching strategies before graduation. By the time you complete the program, you’ll have meaningful classroom experience and be prepared to begin your teaching career.
