Online M.A. in Theology and Culture

Bushnell’s Master of Arts in Theology and Culture is designed for working adults seeking graduate theological education while continuing to serve in ministry or their profession. The program combines fully online coursework with two immersive one-week campus residencies, allowing you to deepen your theological understanding while building meaningful relationships with faculty and your cohort.

Throughout the program, you’ll engage in collaborative discussions, theological reflection, and practical ministry application as you progress through the curriculum together.

Admission to the Master of Arts in Theology and Culture program includes:

• Completed graduate application
• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
• Official college transcripts
• Statement of Purpose (approximately 500 words)
• Two letters of recommendation (one pastoral reference and one academic or personal reference)

Applicants with a cumulative undergraduate GPA below 3.0 may be considered for conditional admission. Your admissions counselor can help you understand the application process and determine the best path forward.

Although coursework is completed online, students participate in two one-week campus residencies at Bushnell University in Eugene, Oregon.

The Master of Arts in Theology and Culture concludes with a six-credit thesis, allowing you to explore a theological or cultural topic that aligns with your ministry interests and vocational calling.

Working closely with faculty, you’ll conduct research, integrate biblical and theological scholarship, and produce a project that demonstrates your ability to thoughtfully engage contemporary issues through a historic Christian perspective.
