There are millions of scholarships, and billions (That’s right, billions. With a “B.”) of dollars available to students seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees every year. We’ve done our best to create a list of scholarships that will be relevant to our student body, but we can’t possibly keep track of every scholarship out there. Thankfully, there are several helpful scholarship databases out there that can help you discover a lot of great scholarship fits for you and your situation.
When searching for outside scholarships always consider the following before submitting an application:
- Does the scholarship and/or it’s website have a strong privacy policy that guarantees your information is safe and won’t be sold?
- Never give a scholarship your bank and/or credit card information. Most legitimate scholarships will send payment directly to the university and should never charge you for applying (their goal is to give you money, right?).
- Exercise caution before disclosing your Social Security Number. Some legitimate scholarships require one, but it’s usually something you can go without disclosing (especially in an online form).
- Ask, “Does this scholarship make sense?” Legitimate granting organizations will have a sensible explanation for why they’re offering their scholarship. For example, maybe it’s a non-profit that exists to grant scholarships or a private company that funds scholarships related to their industry.
- Try to avoid “sweepstakes” style scholarships. There’s often some ulterior motive to why companies offer these scholarships, such as building an email list to sell to third parties. And, because the barrier to entry is so low, the odds of winning typically aren’t great.
JLV Counseling Scholarship Search
This site provides thousands of scholarships listed by deadline date and and categories. You are not required to enter any personal information to access the regularly updated scholarships.
FastWeb
Fastweb is perhaps the most widely known scholarship database on the internet. They list over 1.5 million scholarships on their website, but our experience is that many of those scholarships are “sweepstakes” style scholarships. Their site is heavily ad-driven, but their matches are usually pretty good. They email more frequently than the other databases we list, so they may be an excellent fit for the student that needs a few more reminders to hit all their deadlines. Registration is required.
SallieMae Scholarship Search
Sallie Mae has a reputation as one of the nation’s largest private student loan providers. Their Scholarship Search database lists over 25 million scholarships and will match you to potential good fits based on your profile. The database isn’t laden with advertising and, in our experience, they only ever contact you if there’s a new match or to see if you’ll need a private loan through them for the upcoming semester. Registration is required.
Unigo Scholarship Search
Unigo is a college and scholarship search database listing over 3 million scholarships including several thousand dollars worth that are unique to them. You can browse all the scholarships in their database without an account, but in our experience they do an excellent job matching scholarships to your profile. There’s some advertisements on the website, but we’ve never gotten an email from them about anything other than scholarship matches. Registration is not required, but is recommended.
General Scholarships
American Psychological Association Scholarship Database
The APA and its affiliate organizations provide a wide range of grants, scholarships, and awards with the aim of advancing the science and practice of psychology as a means of understanding behavior and promoting health, education, and human welfare.

GoGrad Scholarship Database
Graduate school is an exciting opportunity to expand career options, increase earning potential, and gain a deeper level of subject mastery. The scholarship guides at GoGrad offer a variety of general scholarship information including hundreds of scholarships, fellowships and grants, key information to include when applying for funding, and a variety of resources for specific groups. Horatio Alger Association Scholarship
The Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. Many programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, but the Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need.

Live Más Scholarship
This scholarship is for the innovators, creators, and dreamers who want to share his/her passion and receive support to pursue this passion through a higher educational outlet. This is not needs or obstacle based; it is a passion-based scholarship program. 220 total awards are available!

National Board of Certified Counselors Foundation Scholarships
Supporting counselors-in-training is integral to the NBCC Foundation’s mission. By providing scholarships and fellowships, the NBCCF increases the number of counselors committed to helping priority underserved communities. The Foundation offers scholarships and fellowships to master’s and doctoral counseling students, training awards to individuals earning the BCC certification, and professional development awards to CCE credential holders.

Pathways in Education Scholarship
This project is a partnership between Bushnell and local school districts (Eugene, Springfield, and Bethel) that aims to provide a pipeline of effective, culturally and linguistically diverse teachers. In addition to a tuition scholarship, the program provides students with individualized academic support, professional development, financial support and information, workshops and tutoring, career advising, and ongoing mentoring and support. The emphasis is on future educators who can speak multiple languages, are culturally diverse, and/or are first-generation college students.

The Ford Family Foundation Scholarship
The Ford Family Foundation Scholarship typically offers financial support to students pursuing higher education in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California. The scholarship is designed to help students from low- to moderate-income families, with a focus on those who demonstrate strong academic potential and a commitment to their communities.

Sister Adele Scholarship
The Sister Adele Scholarship Fund was named after Sister Adele Mansfield, Order of Saint Benedict of the Queen of Angels Monastery, Mt. Angel, Oregon. The purpose of this need-based scholarship is to provide individuals from farmworker families residingin Oregon with the opportunity to further their academic or technical education at the institution of their choosing.

Hearts for Hospice Scholarships

Alexander Christian Foundation of Oregon Scholarships
The Alexander Christian Foundation of Oregon provides scholarships for Oregon students who are members of a Christian Church/Church of Christ, who are attending a Christian Church/Church of Christ affiliated university (Bushnell Counts!), and who desire to serve in a church-related vocation.

CM Cares: Religious Scholars Program
Church Mutual Insurance Company believes helping our vibrant religious leaders today will ensure strong faith-based communities of tomorrow. The Religious Scholars Program is open to full-time students across the country who are in a religious studies program at an accredited theological seminary, college or university during the 2018-19 academic year. Students serving in their final year of an internship program are also eligible to apply. Students across all denominations are encouraged to apply.

Helm Disciples Fellowships
The Leadership Fellows Program responds to rapidly changing contexts for Christian Leadership. With guidance from expert coaches and mentors, Leadership Fellows directly engage the ministry of emerging and renewing local Christian communities across North America. While the Leadership Fellows Program does include a grant, it is not primarily a scholarship program. Instead, the program aims to develop leaders through an intentional focus on four major areas: community, transformation, global awareness, and mentoring.

Gilman-McCain Scholarship
The John S. McCain International Scholarship for Military Families (Gilman-McCain Scholarship) is a congressionally funded initiative of the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and named after the late senator John S. McCain from Arizona. The Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for child and spousal dependents of active or activated United States military personnel during the time of application to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs.

Fisher House Military Children Scholarship
The Scholarships for Military Children Program was created to recognize military families’ contributions to the fighting force’s readiness and to celebrate the commissary’s role in the military family community.
Each year around five hundred (500) scholarship grants, each for $2,000, will be awarded for the academic school year. There will be at least one recipient selected at every commissary location where qualified applications are received. Additional recipients are chosen on a prorated basis. Therefore, more applicants may be selected from those commissaries with more significant numbers of applicants.

Study Abroad Scholarships
Fund for Education Abroad
The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) seeks to expand access to study abroad by raising awareness of its benefits and by granting scholarships. Applicants from groups underrepresented in study abroad and those destined for non-traditional locations are given preference, in an effort to make the demographics of U.S. undergraduates studying abroad reflect the rich diversity of the U.S. population.

Gilman International Scholarship
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic competitiveness. The Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.
