Clinical Experience That Prepares You to Lead

Clinical practice is at the heart of Bushnell University’s Master of Arts in School Counseling. Through supervised practicum and internship experiences, you’ll apply classroom learning in real K–12 school settings while developing the knowledge, confidence, and professional skills needed for licensure.

Working alongside experienced school counselors, you’ll gain hands-on experience in counseling, assessment, consultation, advocacy, and student support before graduation.

Practicum & Internship Experience

Clinical practice is integrated throughout the program to help you connect theory with professional practice.

Students complete:

• 600 hours of supervised internship experience
• Placements in both elementary and secondary school settings
• Supervision by licensed school counselors and Bushnell faculty

Throughout these experiences, you’ll work directly with students while building the practical counseling, leadership, consultation, and advocacy skills expected of professional school counselors.

Additional Track II Experience

200-Hour Classroom Practicum

Students enrolled in Track II complete an additional 200-hour classroom practicum before beginning their internship. This experience strengthens classroom management, curriculum knowledge, teaching practices, and school operations.

Faculty Mentorship and Placement Support

Bushnell’s collaborative cohort model means you’ll never navigate your clinical experiences alone.

Throughout your practicum and internship placements, experienced faculty provide individualized mentorship, feedback, and professional coaching while partnering with site supervisors to help you develop confidence as a future school counselor.

Faculty also work closely with students to coordinate practicum and internship experiences that align with program requirements and Oregon licensure standards.
