Clinical Practice
You will gain meaningful and hands-on experience through internships in clinical, fitness, and athletic settings. Working alongside therapists, trainers, coaches, and healthcare professionals, you will apply scientific concepts to real assessments, conditioning programs, and client interactions. Internship sites include physical therapy clinics, hospitals, athletic training centers, university athletics, and community wellness organizations.
These experiences strengthen your technical competence, professional communication, and confidence in working with diverse populations. By graduation, you will have completed supervised fieldwork that directly supports graduate school preparation and enhances your readiness for roles in human movement and allied health professions.

Yes. The program intentionally aligns with prerequisites and competencies required for graduate programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, exercise science, sports management, and related fields.
Yes. Students in the Coaching & Athletic Administration concentration may apply to Bushnell’s 4+1 Accelerated Dual Pathway, which allows you to earn a B.S. in Kinesiology and a Master of Arts in Sports Management in as little as five years. Eligible students maintain a 3.0 GPA, meet regularly with a faculty mentor, and may take up to six graduate credits during their senior year. This pathway provides a streamlined, cost-effective route to advanced preparation for leadership roles in sport management, coaching, and athletic administration.
Yes. Many students complete internships with athletic training centers, university athletics, high school sports programs, and strength and conditioning environments, gaining hands-on experience with athlete development and performance assessment.
Yes. Courses in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and exercise physiology include laboratory components where you practice assessments, movement analysis, physiological measurement, and data interpretation.

Concentrations & Pathways
Exercise Science
The Exercise Science Concentration provides you with a strong scientific and analytical foundation to pursue careers in health, rehabilitation, human performance, and fitness. Through advanced study in physiology, biomechanics, neuromuscular conditioning, and exercise prescription, you will learn to assess physical fitness, interpret physiological data, and design evidence-based programs for individuals of varying needs and abilities.
Laboratory coursework and applied experiences will deepen your understanding of human movement at both the cellular and whole-body levels. This concentration is ideal if you are preparing for graduate study in physical therapy, exercise physiology, athletic training, or clinical exercise science.
Coaching & Athletic Administration
The Coaching and Athletic Administration Concentration will prepare you for leadership roles in sport, recreation, and athlete administration. Combining coursework in anatomy, injury prevention, leadership, human development, and sport psychology, the concentration equips you to design training programs, support athlete well-being, and manage team or organizational operations.
You will study communication, management, and coaching methodologies while gaining practical experience through internship placements in school, community, or collegiate athletic settings. This pathway is well-suited if you are seeking careers in coaching, athletic administration, sport management, youth development, or performance leadership.
Accelerated Dual Pathway (4+1)
Students are able to obtain two degrees (B.S. and Master of Arts in Sports Management) in five years by enrolling in our Accelerated Dual Pathway.
